Lamar Jackson reacts to Dez Bryant’s first practice with Ravens
Dez Bryant participated in his first practice with the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday and reigning MVP Lamar Jackson is happy to have him on board.
The Ravens signed Bryant to their practice squad. While speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Jackson spoke glowingly about the former Dallas Cowboys star.
“Oh man, it’s tremendous,” Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson said of Dez Bryant’s signing, via Ravens.com.
“We just have to see what he’s capable of. I see him on ‘IG’ [Instagram] a lot doing his thing. He’s grinding [and] getting after it. [Executive vice president] Mr. Ozzie [Newsome] and [General Manager] Eric [DeCosta], those guys did a great job upstairs bringing him in. We just have to see if he’s ready, see what he’s capable of and go from there.”
The Ravens are 5-1 on the season. They are currently in second place in the AFC North standings.
In 113 games with the Cowboys, Bryant caught 531 balls for 7,459 yards and 73 touchdowns. Dallas released him in April of 2018. The Texas native then signed a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints during the middle of the 2018 season.
Unfortunately, Bryant suffered a torn Achilles tendon and never suited up for the Saints. He’s trying to rejuvenate his career with the Ravens and Jackson is certainly rooting for him now that they are finally teammates.
It remains to be seen when Bryant will make his Ravens debut. For that to happen, he first has to be elevated from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. We’ll see how things develop in the coming days.
