According to Tuscaloosa County Sherrif's booking information, Baltimore Ravens rookie and former University of Alabama star cornerback Marlon Humphrey was arrested in Tuscaloosa on Thursday. A warrant was issued for Humphrey's arrest after the 21-year-old allegedly stole a phone charger from an Uber driver back on Jan 13.

The incident report claims that Humphrey asked to borrow a cable to charge his phone while getting a ride to a hotel from an Uber driver on Jan. 13. Humphrey allegedly took the charging cable and several other cables from the car with him when he left and elbowed the driver when he was confronted.

On Thursday, the Ravens released an official statement on Twitter regarding the situation with Humphrey.

“Marlon told us that it was a misunderstanding regarding a $15 telephone charger, which he thought was his. Our understanding is that he has been interviewed by University of Alabama Police and is cooperating. We are monitoring the situation,” the statement said.

Humphrey's attorney, Paul Patterson, told Michael Casagrande of AL.com that his client was completely caught off guard by the warrant for his arrest and says that the situation is a big misunderstanding.

“Marlon is saddened by this because he knows it's an honest mistake,” Patterson said. “He's confused and perplexed as to how an Uber driver could go down and be able to secure a warrant for his arrest over something so simple and innocent. He realizes there are individuals out there who will not believe his side of the story but fortunately, we have eyewitnesses that will support our position 100 percent.”

In the 2017 NFL season, Humphrey played in all 16 games (starting five) and recorded 34 tackles, 11 pass deflections, and two interceptions.
