Terrell Suggs surprised a lot of people including owner Steve Bisciotti when he left the Baltimore Ravens this off-season to join the Arizona Cardinals. After spending the first 16 years in Baltimore Suggs decided to pack his bags and play closer to where he went to high school and college.

According to Bisciotti that is the reason Suggs gave for joining the Cardinals, but he also thinks it has a bit to do with the money offered.

Bisciotti told season ticket holders earlier this week that the team was close to striking a deal with the future Hall of Famer until the Cardinals kept putting more money on the table.

“Until the very minute Terrell took Arizona’s deal, I thought he would take less to stay here, and I was wrong,” Bisciotti said via the Ravens team site. “I’ve got nobody to steal my golf card anymore at practice. … I wished him well and I hope he does very well for them. I hope our young guys who weren’t getting as many snaps last year rise to the occasion. We have two good that are coming up into their third year [Tyus Bowser and Tim Williams] and I’m looking forward to seeing them on the field.”

Suggs signed a two year, $10 million dollar contract with the Cardinals that has $7 million in guarantees. The Cardinals hope he can be a veteran leader for some of the young guys and help improve a defense that really struggled to perform at a high-level last year.
