Medical examiners determined late Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jaylon Ferguson died from fentanyl and cocaine usage, per ESPN. Police originally stated that no foul play was suspected. His death on June 21st was determined to be an accident. He was just 26 years old.

ESPN shared the Ravens official team statement on Ferguson's death.

“Our priority is focused on the man Jaylon was and the positive impact he made on so many as a father, son, fiancé, friend and teammate. It would be inappropriate for us to comment further while we continue to support his family and teammates, who are mourning the tragic loss of a loved one and will celebrate his life [Saturday].”

The Ravens also issued an official statement on June 22nd in reference his death.

“We are profoundly saddened by the tragic passing of Jaylon Ferguson. He was a kind, respectful young man with a big smile and infectious personality. We express out heartfelt condolences to Jaylon's family and friends as we mourn a life lost much too soon.”

Teammate Tony Jefferson II commented on Ferguson's passing as well.

Ferguson played his college football at Louisiana Tech before getting drafted by the Ravens in the 2019 NFL Draft. He played in 14 games during his rookie season and record 31 combined tackles, 20 solo tackles, and 2.5 sacks. In 2020, Ferguson posted similar numbers with 30 sacks, 21 solo tackles, and 2 sacks in 14 games. In 2021, Ferguson was limited to 10 games and tallied 6 combined tackles.

Jaylon Ferguson's death obviously came as a shock to his family, friends, the Ravens, and the NFL world as a whole. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
