A few days ago, Baltimore Ravens fans were in shock when the team announced that star quarterback Lamar Jackson was downgraded to questionable due to illness. Speculations on his chances of playing and what his illness could be floated around. Now, a recent rumor may shed some light on some of these questions from the fans.

Noted NFL insider Adam Schefter spoke with some league sources on Lamar Jackson's chances of playing for the Ravens despite an illness. Here's his full tweet regarding the matter:

“A league source on the status of Ravens’ QB Lamar Jackson for Sunday’s game in Chicago against the Bears: ‘I’d say it’s 50-50. He’s sick – not Covid.'”

Well, that's some enlightenment on the topic. While we don't know the exact illness that Jackson is dealing with, knowing it's not COVID is a breath of fresh air for Ravens fans. The last thing Jackson and the team needs is a COVID scare, not after their embarrassing loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Jackson, for his part, is surely raring to go and avenge the Ravens' brutal loss to the Dolphins. He was visibly frustrated in that game, saying after the match that:

“I was hot… We weren’t scoring points. We kept putting our defense out there. They played a great game. That’s why I was mad. If you were on offense, you would be mad too.”

The league is better when Lamar Jackson is healthy. Hopefully, the 50-50 coinflip on Jackson's illness goes the Ravens' way, as they look to take the field against an up-and-coming rookie QB in Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears.
