Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is heading into the final six months of his current deal at Old Trafford and with no extension in sight, he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January. Numerous European giants are said to be interested in the Frenchman, including PSG, Juventus, and Real Madrid, who has long been a potential destination for Pogba.

However, according to French outlet Foot Mercato, Los Blancos have dampened their interest in the 28-year-old because they don't want to hurt the development of young midfielders Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde.

Camavinga has struggled to adapt to life at Real Madrid since a summer move from Rennes, but he's still extremely young and possesses loads of potential. Also, the La Liga standouts have their eyes set on both Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, who is expected to leave Dortmund and PSG in the summer of 2022. A frontline with these two youngsters plus Benzema also up there would form one of the most lethal attacks in world football.

Pogba meanwhile hasn't played since November 2nd after injuring himself on international duty with France. Following a smashing start to the campaign with seven assists in the first four games, he then fell out of favor under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Although Real Madrid could be prioritizing other players in the transfer market, the possibility of Pogba staying at Old Trafford shouldn't be totally out of the question. After all, Solskjaer was sacked and with a new manager in Ralf Rangnick, Pogba could prove his worth again and fight his way back into the starting XI.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the near future with the France international.
