Real Madrid was dealt the death blow in their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe when the French striker announced his intentions to remain at PSG. It had long been assumed that Mbappe would be playing at Real Madrid in 2022-23, but that's no longer the case, leaving the club searching for another top-tier target to bring to town and pair with Karim Benzema. The latest rumors have linked Real Madrid to five attacking players, all of whom the club feels could suffice as replacements following the Mbappe decision.

According to Manu Sainz, Real Madrid is considering approaches for the likes of Tottenham's Harry Kane, Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski, Benfica's Darwin Nunez, RB Leipzig standout Christopher Nkunku, and AC Milan starlet Rafael Leao.

It remains to be seen whether Kane will be available this summer, as he could quite well be committed to the project at Tottenham after they secured Champions League qualification on Sunday, finishing fourth in the Premier League.

Lewandowski, however, is expected to leave Bayern Munich this summer after eight seasons with the club. Despite his preferred destination being Barcelona, it stands to reason that Real Madrid could swoop in for the 33-year-old.

Nunez and Leao are both just 22 years old, but have proven to be incredible talents thus far in their careers. The pair are both expected to be on the move this summer, and now it looks as if Real Madrid could be a possible landing spot.

Nkunku would be a very intriguing option for Real Madrid, as he could pair alongside Karim Benzema seamlessly. He's just as gifted a passer as he is a finisher, which makes him an extremely interesting candidate for Real Madrid.
