Why The Red Sox Will Cover The Spread/Win
Kutter Crawford is having a very respectable season. His record is not indicative on how he has performed this season. Before beating the Yankees, the Red Sox were on a seven-game losing streak in games Crawford has pitched. However, the Red Sox averaged just two runs per game in those seven games. Crawford did enough to keep his team in the game, he just needs some run support. Nonetheless, if Crawford is able to keep the Red Sox in this game, Boston will come away with a win.
Crawford is a much better road pitcher this season. In his six starts, he has an ERA under 3.00. Crawford should have no problem keeping the Red Sox in this game on the road. Along with that, the Reds are struggling with their bats. They have the fourth-worst batting average, seventh-worst slugging percentage, and the lowest average exit velocity. Cincinnati does not hit the ball hard, and Crawford will take advantage of that.
Why The Reds Will Cover The Spread/Win
Abbott needs to be at his best in this game. The Red Sox are good offensively, so Abbott does have a tough matchup. However, Boston has the sixth-highest whiff percentage and fifth-lowest zone contact percentage. Boston takes a lot of big cuts, and they tend to come up empty. Abbott needs to keep them guessing, but I would not be surprised if this was one of his better outings because of Boston's tendency to swing and miss.
The Reds have to get to Crawford in this game. As mentioned, the Red Sox have not given Crawford too much run support. This means the Reds just have to put up three or four runs, and they will have a great chance to win this game. As long as Cincinnati can get hot with their bats, they will win this game.

Yes, the Red Sox have not given much run support to Crawford. However, I do not think that will be the case in this game. The Red Sox are playing some great baseball right now as they come into this game on a five-game win streak. I am going to take the Red Sox to continue their win streak and win this game.
