The Washington Redskins are hoping that tight end Jordan Reed may be able to return this week after missing the Week 15 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Reed suffered a foot injury during the 40-16 loss to the New York Giants on Dec. 9, and it seemed obvious that he wouldn't suit up against the Jaguars after not practicing all week.

However, the Redskins still managed to pull off a thrilling 16-13 win in Jacksonville, which allowed Jay Gruden's team to stay firmly in the hunt for a playoff spot in the NFC.

And at this point, Gruden and company are hoping that Reed may be able to return for the continued push for the postseason.

From ESPN's John Keim:

Redskins injury updates: there's some hope tight end Jordan Reed (foot/toe) can return this week, but they're not sure yet; they're also hopeful about guard Ty Nsekhe (knee); corner Josh Holsey partially tore his ACL and was placed on injured reserve; corner Danny Johnson injured his knee and dislocated his finger, but his status remains uncertain.

Reed has racked up 54 receptions for 558 yards and two touchdowns this season, and given all the injury problems on offense, Washington can use all the help it can get moving forward.

Getting to the playoffs will be a difficult task given the upcoming schedule, as the Redskins will hit the road to take on a surging Tennessee Titans team on Saturday before finishing the regular season with a home matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
