The Washington football team, formerly the Redskins, has recently hired multiple members to executive jobs, but they could have committed some violations along the way. Shortly after hiring both Terry Bateman and Julie Donaldson to high-ranking executive positions, the NFL is investigating Washington's compliance with the Rooney Rule.

According to the Washington Post's Mark Maske, the Fritz Pollard Alliance sent inquiries to the NFL to investigate the situation. The Fritz Pollard Alliance is an independent group that communicates with the NFL about situations involving diversity.

Therefore, it shouldn't come as a surprise that they believe something questionable occurred in Washington. Earlier this offseason, the Fritz Pollard Alliance shared their disappointment in the lack of minority hires within the NFL.

Of course, Washington has recently been in the headlines after an unfortunate situation involving sexual harassment in the workplace. As a result, the executives that were named in the harassment incidents were either fired or resigned from the organization.

Provided that, Washington has decided to hire Donaldson as the team's new senior vice president of media. Donaldson will be the first female to be a full-time member of Washington's radio team. Seeing that the Rooney Rule requires teams to interview people of color and women, Washington likely didn't violate the rule in Donaldson's hiring.

However, there could have been some shady business going on with the hiring of Bateman. Bateman was hired as the team's new chief marketing officer and will spearhead the team's rebranding. But it's worth noting that Bateman has been a longtime adviser of owner Dan Snyder. Provided that, it may be wise for the league to look into Washington's recent hirings.
