Washington Redskins wide receiver Josh Doctson didn't get his fifth-year option picked up by the team, but that isn't something that is bothering him heading into the season. Doctson is going into this season with an open mind and knows he is working on his next contract, whether that is with the Redskins or with some other team.

“I think I’m hitting free agency next year. I won’t be the first, won’t be the last,” Doctson said, via ESPN. “It’s nothing to be sad about, be mad about. Someone wants you there, so it’s all love.”

Doctson knows he has struggled in his career but doesn't think he needs to go out this season to prove a point, rather just work on getting better each practice and game.

“No, because that would mean it would have gotten to me and I’d feel some type of way. There’s no motivation,” he said. “I’m not trying to prove nothing to nobody. Just trying to get chemistry with the quarterbacks.”

Doctson had the best year of his career last year catching 44 balls for 532 yards and two touchdowns, but those stats aren't enough for a former first-round draft pick, and is a big reason why the team decided not to pick up his fifth-year option.

Doctson is going to go out there each game this year and hope to improve on what he was able to accomplish last year, and the rest will work itself out. As long as he has a decent year there will be a job for him somewhere next year.
