In wake of their matchup against the San Antonio Spurs tonight at Wells Fargo Center, the Philadelphia 76ers got some bad news related to their star center Joel Embiid.

Then they got good news.

After being ruled out tonight, the Sixers made a last-second decision to play Embiid tonight vs. the Spurs.

Sixers head coach Brett Brown originally had serious doubts for Embiid even suiting up against legendary Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich's veteran squad.

“I would throw in very doubtful,” coach Brown said during his pregame press conference.

According to another tweet from Jessica Camerato of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Embiid elaborated on his hand injury that has been causing him problems.

“It's just tight in general,” Embiid said. “Pretty swollen. I can't really use it, can't shoot, can't use it to shoot.”

This is some very fortunate news for the Sixers, as the star center currently leads Philly in scoring this season at 23.9 points, 10.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.96 blocked shots per game in roughly 31.3 minutes of action per contest.
