Adult Swim's Rick and Morty is currently having another great run with season 5. However, they will be taking a short break just before they release the season's epic hour-long finale.

According to Collider, Rick and Morty won't be delivering its hour-long finale until September 5. This will be the first time that fans of the show will have to wait over a month for an episode's release. However, it will also be the show's longest episode so who knows? It might just be the greatest episode yet.

Rick and Morty getting delayed isn't the only difference between the show's current season and its previous ones. Showrunner Dan Harmon previously told the press about a shift in the series' tempo.

Explaining the move to a more serialized approach to storytelling, Harmon said: “It's really weird in animation because obviously, Morty has to be 14 forever. Summer is 17 forever. Rick is whatever he is forever.”

“So that question becomes like: do your characters grow and change? I'm firmly against that reset-button-hitting where there's no awareness present. I look at it as like smoking meat versus cooking it. You kind of let the flavor of itself happen, and let that change things.”

Adult Swim released the eighth episode last July 8 over in the States and it pretty much revealed some shocking info. Rickternal Friendshine of the Spotless Mort was an episode that fans had been waiting for for a long time. Not only did it give a beloved character another chance to be alive again but it also confirms that OG beth of Rick C-137 has actually been dead all along. Yikes.

Although it'll be a long wait, let's hope that it'll be worth it when it arrives. In the meantime, play some Fortnite and unlock that Rick skin already.
