League of Legends players from Turkey encountered an unfortunate setback in their game client. Riot Games decided to cancel the remaining Clash tournament games on Turkish servers. The decision followed several server problems plaguing various countries in Europe. Riot promised to refund Clash tickets for players that were currently playing their matches. Additionally, the Clash rewards will be doled out to all affected teams.

The Clash crash

Riot immediately tackled the EU server issues but not everything could be salvaged. Unfortunately, the Turkish Clash games served as one of the casualties in the server outage. The issues in question caused unreasonably long load times or reduced game performance. Riot quashed the issues but reports indicate that similar issues are popping up in other regions. Hopefully, Riot gets to fixing their issues globally so no more players or teams suffer from setbacks.

Clash is an in-client tournament system meant to foster competition for League players. Riot initially teased Clash in May 2018 before indefinitely postponing its release after a failed launch. The game mode eventually hobbled onto game clients around the world but its entire history remains rocky. Riot has so far made the decision only for TR servers but the cancellation has been seen in several other regions in the past.

Clash's cancellation weighed heavy on the hearts of TR players but some made the best out of a very bad situation. One Turkish League of Legends player replied to the initial announcement to show their new friendship with a team that would have been their opponents. Clearly, none of this is ideal but at least the players know how to spin Riot's shortcomings into blessings.

Riot hasn't announced any further issues regarding the Turkey server but they don't seem to be clear of the global outage. Players should expect to encounter more challenges until the all-clear has been given.
