Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma invited fans to ask him questions to answer on his X (formerly known as Twitter) account and was asked by a user about his thoughts on Houston Rockets young star Alperen Sengun. Kuzma would reply with three words that not only should flatter Sengun, but excite Rockets fans everywhere.

“Next great center,” Kuzma said on X Tuesday afternoon.

Sengun's game similar to Nikola Jokic

Alperen Segun is making an All-Star push early in the Rockets 2023-24 season

While one could see this as a player complimenting another since they are peers while not being on the same team, it's hard to not see the talent that Sengun has when he's on the court. It's a lofty comparison, but many have called the Rockets big-man the next Nikola Jokic as their styles are similar in the way they play, pass the ball, and more.

Sengun himself has commented on the comparisons and the relationship he even has with the former MVP. He revealed that Jokic would come up to him and they would talk about the games they had according to Sports Illustrated.

“You know, Jokic is not social media guy, he cares about basketball and family,” Sengun said. “But he’s a great guy and European. I can say all European bigs and other players so close to each other…After the game he’s coming up to me saying good job, great job, keep it up. All this great stuff, it’s great for me. I like not trying to play like him, but like you know, our games are similar.”

The Turkish basketball player is averaging 21 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5.5 assists as he's taken a huge step in his third season with the Rockets. When it comes to Houston, they're currently 8-9 and on a three-game losing streak as they try to bounce back tomorrow night when they take on the Oklahoma City Thunder.
