Food will taste a little better for the Houston Rockets on Sunday night after shocking the Memphis Grizzlies, 123-112 to put an end to their 12-game losing skid.
The Rockets rallied from a double-digit deficit at halftime to complete the upset. Christian Wood had a double-double of 28 points and 13 rebounds, flashing the impressive all-around game that has made him one of the more underrated big men in the NBA.
In a report by ESPN, Wood made a bold claim after beating Ja Morant and company.
“I honestly would say this is the best that we have all played altogether. It's really good to see when we are all clicking like that. It's a really scary sight, so we just have try to harp on that, try to build on that, try to see if we can repeat that same effort, that same energy.”
The 26-year-old Wood may think that they're a scary unit, but their 16-48 record doesn't necessarily strike fear into the hearts of the opponents. They have the second-worst record in the league after the 16-49 of Orlando Magic. But as Wood said, the Rockets, one of the youngest squads in the NBA, just need to build on every positive outcome they could get. Beating the Grizzlies was surely a huge morale-booster.
Kevin Porter Jr. had 29 points while Jalen Green chipped in 24 markers, showing how good their trio with Wood can be in the years to come.
The Rockets will try to pull off another massive shocker against the Miami Heat on the second end of a back-to-back set.
