You’ve got to feel sorry for John Wall. His career trajectory looks like the craziest rollercoaster of all time. And it looks like it might be going downhill even further with some troubling news from Yahoo! Sports insider Chris Haynes.

According to Haynes, Wall is expected to get his knee scoped after suffering from a contusion at practice last week. And while the report is not troubling on its own (the injury and procedure are not season-ending, and he is expected to return soon), it is telling that the five-time All-Star has had his knees operated on in the past.

Over the course of his career (especially recently), John Wall has suffered from a number of injuries to his lower body. There are his knees, of course, but the highest-profile procedure he underwent happened just a couple of years ago, when Wall got several prominent bone spurs removed from his heel, ending his season in 2018-2019. These apparently were ongoing and nagging injuries that put him at risk for a torn Achilles tendon…

Which eventually tore later that year when he slipped and fell in his home.

Thankfully, this most recent setback is seemingly more mild than his injury history would suggest, and the Rockets are already in rebuilding mode.

But as a guard who made his money and built his legend on his otherworldly athleticism, the eyes of the basketball world will certainly return to how John Wall recovers and bounces back from this newest injury. And for Houston, who is possibly looking for trade suitors to take Wall’s massive contract, those hopes are slipping even faster now.
