Drew Brees finished the 2019 season strong for the New Orleans Saints, and he was rewarded for his efforts in the final four weeks. Ahead of New Orleans' NFC Wild Card matchup versus the Minnesota Vikings, Brees was crowned as the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for the month of December.

In the month of December, Brees completed 75.4 percent of his passes for 1,188 yards, 15 touchdowns, and zero interceptions. The Saints would only lose one game in that span and finish the season with an impressive 13-3 record.

During his dominant four-game stretch in December, his most impressive outing likely came in Week 15 against the Indianapolis Colts. On “Monday Night Football,” Brees completed 29 of his 30 attempts for 307 yards and four touchdowns.

While the Saints defeated the Colts 34-7, Brees smashed the single-game record for completion percentage. In addition, a touchdown pass to Josh Hill versus the Colts allowed Brees to surpass Peyton Manning for the most passing touchdowns of all-time.

Of course, it was an interesting season for Brees, who missed five games due to a thumb injury near the beginning of the season. Following his return from the injury, the veteran quarterback began torching opposing defenses as if he had never missed any time.

Throughout his 11 starts, Brees managed to complete 74.3 percent of his attempts for 2,979 yards, 27 touchdowns, and four interceptions. It's interesting to ponder what his numbers would have looked like had he never gotten hurt in Week 2 for the Saints.

Nevertheless, at 40 years old, Brees is proving that he's still in the upper echelon of quarterbacks in the NFL. Brees will undoubtedly hope to carry his momentum from December into January as New Orleans enters the playoffs.
