Running back depth on the New Orleans Saints took another hit on Thursday. That came courtesy of running back Kendre Miller's latest injury scare.

Saints head coach Dennis Allen confirmed that Miller is battling a hamstring injury, per NewOrleans.football's Nick Underhill. Allen wasn't able to say if Miller's status for Week 1 of the regular season is in jeopardy.

Miller has already dealt with a knee scare this preseason. If the third-round pick were to miss time, it would leave the Saints' backfield dangerously thin.

The team is already without its top running back, Alvin Kamara. Kamara is suspended for the first three games of the season, stemming from his role in an altercation in Las Vegas after the 2022 Pro Bowl.

That leaves Jamal Williams as the only back with significant experience on the Saints roster. Williams signed with New Orleans in the offseason following a breakout campaign with the Detroit Lions last season. He rushed for 1,066 yards and 17 touchdowns.

The lack of depth at the running back position will only add more pressure to new quarterback Derek Carr and the passing game. Carr joined the team after nine seasons as the Las Vegas Raiders' starting quarterback.

As for other weapons on offense, Chris Olave had a sensational rookie season for the Saints and surely will look to build on that in his second season. And the team is hoping for a return to form for longtime Saint Michael Thomas. Thomas dominated the league in his first four NFL seasons, but has not been able to stay healthy since. He has played just 10 games since 2020.

In a division with three teams breaking in new quarterbacks, the Saints are primed under Carr to return to the top of the NFC South. But obviously, the availability of playmakers on offense is a concern heading into Week 1.
