Jachai Polite was one of the most intriguing players throughout the entire 2019 NFL Draft process. At one point, he was projected to be a potential first-round pick. By the end of it, however, he ended up being a third-round draft pick by the New York Jets.

Unfortunately, even though he has big-time potential, Polite was unable to make the cut with New York. He ended up being cut during the team's 53-man roster cuts. The Seattle Seahawks didn't waste too much time picking him up and are excited to give him another chance to prove himself.

According to a quote from Seahawks' defensive line coach Clint Hurtt, the talented pass rusher is going to get a fresh start in Seattle.

“The only thing I said to him, I said ‘listen, I understand all the media articles are out there about what transpired in New York.’ I said ‘you’ve got a clean slate here with me.'” Hurtt said. “I said ‘don’t do anything that’s going to make me conjour up and recall the things that I heard. You got a new start, let’s move forward. We don’t deal with any of that foolishness here and if you’re not going to be the consummate pro and be where you’re supposed to be on-time, you don’t give me your undivided attention and work, you won’t be here long.’”

Polite had a productive collegiate career with the Florida Gators. He ended up recording 45 total tackles to go along with 11.0 sacks, six forced fumbles, and four defended pass during the 2018 season. Those numbers show why teams are still interested in giving him a chance despite his character and motor issues.

Pete Carroll and the Seahawks have a long track record of getting the most out of their players. Hopefully, they will be able to unlock Polite's potential and get him back to being a playmaker.

If not, the Seahawks are making a move that they feel will end up either working out beautifully, or they will cut Polite with no further cost.
