It was a tough night for Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams against the Pittsburgh Steelers, on multiple fronts. First, Adams got absolutely roasted when he introduced himself as the “best in the nation” for his Sunday Night Football intro. Late in the game, Adams totally botched an easy interception of Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, leading to more roasting.

Here's the Sunday Night Football intro that resulted in jokes:

And here's a sampling of the reaction:

A number of people pointed out Adams' poor PFF ranking being on the screen while he talked himself up as hilarious. The Seahawks have been awful defensively this season, with Adams not doing nearly enough to help make them even respectable.

Seattle gave up a lot to get Adams from the New York Jets and then gave him a contract extension right before this season. The Seahawks are paying the safety to be “the best in the nation,” but he's not producing like it. He has no sacks, no interceptions, no forced fumbles, no fumble recoveries and just one pass defended in six games.

Adams should have had his first interception of the year in the fourth quarter against the Steelers, but instead he just embarrassed himself by getting hit right in the face mask. This is just brutal stuff:

Adams picking that pass off and having a good return would have put the Seahawks in position to steal a big win on the road without Russell Wilson. Instead, the game went to overtime and the Steelers pulled out a 23-20 win.

Seattle is now 2-4 on the season in a tough division, with Wilson set to miss a good chunk of time. This season is on the verge of going down the drain for Adams and the Seahawks.
