Training camp kicks off in late July and plenty of free agents are searching for a team to play for in the 2022 NFL season. One of which is KJ Wright, who has been vocal about wanting to play for the Seattle Seahawks. Now, with the new season just months away, the veteran linebacker is giving himself an ultimatum.

According to The News Tribune, the former Super Bowl champion and Pro Bowler claims that if Seattle does not sign him, then he will retire from the league after 11 seasons. The Seahawks could use his presence on the field, but we'll see how it plays out with training camp less than a month away.

Wright explains his reasoning during an appearance on the I Am Athlete Tonight Show. He states, “I mean, I love ball, but I'm not willing to pick up and leave my family like I did last year. Because my family had to stay back. They didn't come with me to Vegas. I'm not doing that again.” So, it sounds like it's either the Seahawks or retirement for KJ Wright.

Family is clearly the priority for Wright at the moment. There is still plenty of time for the Seahawks to make a decision, as KJ Wright can likely jump in and play immediately as he is already familiar with Pete Carroll's system. But I love my family more than I love football. So I’m not willing to just up and go to a team mid-season for five months. I got three kids and I love them way more than just up and leaving them to play some ball,” per The News Tribune.

With that in mind, keep an eye on the Seahawks and KJ Wright, as Seattle will likely make a final decision in the coming weeks.
