Sunday's matchup against the Minnesota Vikings will mark the second consecutive week Seattle Seahawks defensive back Jamal Adams will be forced out of action due to a lingering groin injury. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll recently spoke out about Adams' injury, as he shared how the 24-year-old has had a tough time dealing with his groin problem.

“It’s really hard on him, because he’s so competitive and he’s at the far end of the spectrum in the kind of energy that he brings and operates with and his expectations are so high,” Carroll said, via NFL.com (h/t Charean Williams of NBC Sports). “To have to deal with the frustration of not being able to express all of that is really difficult. I recognize that only as a strength and a positive. We’ve worked our way through it, and it’s why I made the declaration with him early so we’re not hanging with it during the week.

“He’s applying himself to his rehab like he does on the football field. He’s really going for it and he’s going to be ready for it next turn, just not this one.”

Adams was forced out of Seattle's Week 3 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, and while there was some hope that he was going to be able to return to the contest, the injury proved to be more serious than initially presumed. Such is the nature of groin injuries, and at this point, it appears that the Seahawks are unwilling to place a firm timetable for his return.

The Seahawks have had a tremendous start to the campaign, winning their first four games of the season. This might serve as further motivation for them to take a more cautious approach on Adams.
