The Seattle Seahawks shocked the NFL on Tuesday when they traded franchise quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos. On Wednesday morning, Russ expressed his love for the Seahawks faithful on social media:

Wilson spent his entire career to this point with the Seahawks after the franchise drafted him in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Just a season later, he led them to a Super Bowl where they eventually beat the Denver Broncos. In 2014, Russ also took Seattle to the big dance, but this time, they lost to the New England Patriots on one of the most controversial play-calls in SB history.

2021 was far from ideal for Wilson and the Seahawks, going just 7-10 and finishing at the bottom of the NFC West. There were also rumors that he wanted out last summer, but the veteran ultimately stayed put. The tension between the two sides was reportedly building for a while though, with Wilson's agent voicing his displeasure with how Pete Carroll ran the offense. Russ also expressed a desire to be more involved with the Seahawks' roster decisions, but the organization never really included him.

Now, Russell Wilson gets a fresh start in Denver, but he'll always be grateful for the golden days in Seattle and the tremendous fans who consistently showered him with love.

The start of a new era.
