There has been plenty of speculation regarding the players' new collective bargaining agreement with the league. It appears Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has made it clear where he stands on the matter.
Notable players like Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt along with fellow teammate and linebacker Bobby Wagner have come out against the new proposal by the NFL.
Wilson recently took to Twitter to join them:
The NFLPA's executive council voted 6-5 against the proposed CBA last week and has since opted to hold a vote of its 32 player representatives. Despite the council's decision, representatives had voted 17-14 with one abstaining in favor of it. as a result, it now remains to be seen how the majority of the NFL union will vote on the matter.
The consensus appears to be split between the league's most high-profile players and those that are currently just helping to fill out a roster. Although there is still a year left in the current deal, the ongoing negotiations have only raised further questions about whether or not their salaries determine where they currently stand in the matter.
There is no question that the NBA and MLB are much more player-friendly when it comes to financial security, which may come as a surprise considering playing football carries the biggest risk of injury. This is why some of the league's most recent lucrative contracts have featured historic sums of guaranteed money.
Russell Wilson's post indicates that this has become a priority for players in this day and age.
