In a year where they had plenty to prove, the Seattle Seahawks had a nightmare of a season. But keeping Russell Wilson in town is still the priority.
Wilson recently spoke out about his desire to win more Super Bowls specifically in Seattle. With the latest report from NFL inside Mike Garafolo, he and the Seahawks brass are on the same page with trying to do just that.
Via Mike Garafolo:
Sources familiar with the Seahawks' thinking say the team has no plans to trade Wilson this offseason and is proceeding as if he'll be their QB in 2022, regardless of any other big changes in the aftermath of a disappointing season that concludes today against the Cardinals.
But after a disappointing year, the big move could very well be the obvious one that's been talked about for a while and that's firing longtime Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll's future, on the other hand, is so uncertain as his first losing season in a decade comes to a close that even those who work closely with him on a daily basis don't know what the near future holds.
As Garofolo indicates, the Seahawks still owe Pete Carroll a hefty $50 million in salary. But with a big move expected to be made, and by most accounts it won't be Russell Wilson, his head makes the most sense on the chopping block.
