Simone Biles's abrupt exit from the Tokyo Olympics has been the news rocking the sports world in the last 24 hours. The Olympic gold medalist and defending champion cited mental health issues as the reason behind her decision to bow out.

The bold move from Simone Biles did not come without backlash, but USA Gymnastics is in full support of their superstar athlete. Her decision to step away for her own well-being was not only respected, but applauded.

“After further medical evaluation, Simone Biles has withdrawn from the final individual all-around competition at the Tokyo Olympic Games, in order to focus on her mental health,” USA Gymnastics said in a statement Wednesday night. “We wholeheartedly support Simone's decision and applaud her bravery in prioritizing her well-being. Her courage shows, yet again, why she is a role model for so many.”

Simone Biles was one of the biggest names heading into the Olympic games and a clear favorite to repeat her multi-awarded success from the 2016 Rio Olympics.
