The Philadelphia 76ers are already off to a rough start in the first round of the playoffs. After a tough Game 1 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, the drama continued to follow the Sixers off the court. Ben Simmons further angered Sixers fans with his sharp response to their booing late in the game. Furthermore, center Amir Johnson is causing problems of his own.

Johnson was caught on the broadcast using his cell phone while on the bench in the fourth quarter. When the team noticed, he was sent to the locker room. Starting center Joel Embiid, who was sitting next to Johnson at the time, was not disciplined.

Embiid later told reporters that Johnson's daughter was extremely sick, and he was simply checking in on her. But Johnson did not mention his daughter in his official apology.

Philadelphia's 111-102 loss already stung, especially coming at home and against the sixth-seed Nets. But the post-game drama caused by both Simmons and Johnson makes the loss look even worse.

Johnson, 31, is in his 14th NBA season. He spent time with the Detroit Pistons, Toronto Raptors, and Boston Celtics before joining the Sixers. This season, Philadelphia used Johnson almost exclusively off the bench. He averaged just 3.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. He will hit free agency this offseason.

The Nets and Sixers will play Game 2 on Monday evening at 8:00 P.M. EST. They will head to Brooklyn for the next two games starting Thursday.
