Wantaway guard Ben Simmons has given in to the Philadelphia 76ers' demand to have their mental health consultants help him as he deals with his mental health issues.

The Australian playmaker recently handed the Sixers the list of mental health professionals he's working with so they can be up to date with regards to his progress. In a new development, though, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that Simmons has met with a “team-recommended specialist to discuss mental health concerns.”

To recall, the Sixers has reinstituted their fines on Ben Simmons after he refused to cooperate with the team as they try to help him address his problems.

The 25-year-old has yet to suit up for Philly this 2021-22, citing that he is not mentally ready to play as of now. He has been working with mental health professionals from the NBPA ever since then, but the Sixers have been increasingly frustrated with the lack of updates on his progress–which is why they wanted their own health consultants to check him as well.

Philly wants to be on the same page with Simmons when it comes to his objectives and progress, as they seemingly want him to still play for them. However, it seems they have been out of the loop as Simmons said he would provide updates to the team when he's comfortable doing so.

It remains to be seen what will happen next to Simmons and the Sixers, though it is worth noting the playmaker has been involved in a recent trade rumor with the Boston Celtics.
