Kelly Oubre Jr. was off to a strong start to his life as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers organization before a hit and run accident sent him to the injured list. Oubre has been out of action since November 10, missing the Sixers' past nine games, including their 138-94 thrashing of the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night, but it looks like a return for the 27-year old forward is on the horizon.

According to Tim Bontemps of ESPN, Sixers head coach Nick Nurse revealed that Oubre was part of the team's shootaround prior to their demolition of the Lakers and that there's a possibility that he could join the team practice as soon as tomorrow. If all goes according to plan, Oubre could even join the Sixers when they embark on a trip against the New Orleans Pelicans and Boston Celtics on the road on Wednesday and Friday, respectively.

This is nothing short of good news for the Sixers, especially given the initial prognostications regarding Kelly Oubre Jr.'s injury. When the initial news of Oubre's injury broke, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that the Sixers wing is expected to “miss significant time” and that the framing of his return timeline made it seem that his recovery process would extend until 2024 at the earliest. So for him to miss just around three weeks of action is remarkable.

Once Oubre returns, the Sixers should have an even deeper arsenal of switchable wings to support the Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey-led roster. Oubre is currently averaging 16.3 points and 5.1 rebounds on 50 percent shooting from the field and 37.8 percent shooting from deep, giving the Sixers an immediate offensive boost once he steps foot on the hardwood again.
