The Chicago Sky can't wait to put their most recent loss behind them. Chicago lost a close game against Indiana on Saturday, falling 71-70 in a narrowly failed comeback attempt. The game featured a ton of interesting developments — including the impressive debut of rookie Camilla Cardoso — but all of the attention went to Chennedy Carter's controversial foul against Fever guard Caitlin Clark.

Carter addressed the situation in a recent interview.

“I'm seeing a lot of things — players, fans not understanding who I am as a player,” Carter said. “You have to understand me as a person, too. And don't just look at one tape and form an opinion about me. I'm truly a passionate person about the game, and I'm genuine. You can ask all my teammates, they've gotten to know me. They know the real Chennedy Carter. So I'm just saying, don't form an opinion off of one little clip. And you didn't even see the whole game and/or the play that led to that.”

Carter has been the subject of numerous headlines this weekend following the foul in question. It was initially ruled an away-from-ball foul, but the WNBA has since upgraded it to a flagrant foul 1.

Next up for the Sky is a game against the New York Liberty. Tip off is at 8PM ET tonight.

Angel Reese, Sky fined after controversial loss

Chennedy Carter's controversial foul was not the only storyline coming out of the Sky's one-point loss to the Fever.

Angel Reese elected not to speak with the media following the game. The WNBA issued fines the next day against both her and the Chicago Sky organization.

According to Bulls beat writer Julia Poe, Angel Reese has been fined $1,000 for failing to comply with media requests after last night’s game. Poe also reports that the Sky have also been fined $5,000 for failing to ensure player compliance with media protocol.

The WNBA appears to be sending a firm message about making players available for the media.

Reese sets the record straight on WNBA popularity regarding Caitlin Clark, Chennedy Carter foul

Another storyline coming out of the aftermath of this weekend's Sky vs. Fever game was a continuation of the discussion around the W's rising popularity.

Reese commented that the WNBA, and women's basketball in general, is rising in popularity for a variety of reasons. It can not be entirely attributed to one player — in this case Indiana's Caitlin Clark.

“The reason why we’re watching women’s basketball is not just because of one person,” Reese said, as reported by Anna Robert and Rick Tarsitano of WGN9. “It’s because of me, too. I want y’all to realize that.”

While it is undoubtedly true that Caitlin Clark is having a massive impact on the WNBA, she is not the only talented player in the league. Reese joins several other figures in the W and the media who have pointed out that Clark is not the only reason why people care more about women's basketball than they did in the past.

Angel Reese also commented on teammate Chennedy Carter's controversial foul against Clark.

“She’s taken accountability for what happened and we’ve moved forward from that,” Reese said.
