The Chicago Sky will make their 2024 WNBA season debut on the road Wednesday night against the Dallas Wings. Chicago's roster has some promising talent, but not everyone will be available for the start of the year. The Sky received a notable injury report update on 2024 lottery pick Kamilla Cardoso for the matchup in Dallas.

Cardoso is ruled out for Wednesday night's game, the team announced on Tuesday evening. The 6-foot-7 forward is managing a shoulder injury that is expected to hold her out for roughly three more weeks. Hopefully, her treatment will allow her a speedy recovery.

In addition to Cardoso, six-year veteran forward Isabelle Harrison will be unavailable against the Wings. Harrison is nursing a knee injury but is working to get healthy as soon as possible. She joined the Sky during the 2023 free agency period after four seasons with Dallas.

The Sky will miss Harrison and Kamilla Cardoso's interior presence. Harrison comes off a 2023 season where she averaged 8.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks in 18.4 minutes per game. She will provide great depth at the forward position when she returns.

Meanwhile, Cardoso looks to have a big impact on Chicago after a stellar tenure with the South Carolina women's basketball team. Cardoso helped the Gamecocks go undefeated to win the NCAA Tournament championship during the 2023-24 season.

The star forward averaged a collegiate-career-high 14.4 points and 9.7 rebounds along with 2.5 blocks. Cardoso came up huge in South Carolina's title victory over Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes. She
finished the game with a commanding 15-point-17 rebound double-double.

Once healthy, Cardoso hopes to take Chicago's two-way attack to the next level alongside Angel Reese. In the meantime, the Sky will travel to Dallas with resolve as they look to get their first win of the year.

Sky prepare for fierce battle against Wings

The Dallas Wings were no joke during the 2023 WNBA season. They finished with a 22-18 record and earned the fourth seed in the playoffs. The reigning champion Las Vegas Aces swept the Wings 3-0 in the semifinals, but they have a stout squad returning in 2024.

Dallas will be led by star guard Arike Ogunbowale and forward Satou Sabally. Ogunbowale averaged 21.2 points, 4.5 assists, and 1.7 steals per game in 2023. Her tough play on both sides of the ball sets the tone for the Wings, and she has some of the best help in the league from Sabally.

Sabally looks to continue her campaign as one of the top players in the WNBA. The 6-foot-4 forward tallied 18.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per contest in 2023. As a result, her efforts earned her a fifth-place finish in MVP voting, per insight from ClutchPoints' Wings beat reporter Joey Mistretta.

Sabally is ruled out for Wednesday night's matchup, but with Ogunbowale and others in the lineup, Chicago must stay on its toes.

It is tough to see Kamilla Cardoso and Isabelle Harrison on the Sky injury report. Yet, with continued recovery efforts, the two forwards will be back helping the team win in no time.

Tip-off for Wednesday night's Sky-Wings matchup at College Park Center is 7 PM CST.
