Members of the Barcelona board have recently prepared to listen to offers for Lionel Messi, after the star's meeting with new manager Ronald Koeman left a lot to desire, according to ESPN.

Koeman's appointment on the heels of Quique Setien's firing following an 8-2 UEFA Champions League quarterfinal defeat to Bayern Munich was a quick patch to regain some sense of stability. Only hours after his signing was made official, Koeman called for a meeting with Lionel Messi, where the star told him he felt more “out than in” when asked about his future.

Lionel Messi has grown frustrated with events on and off the pitch in recent seasons. He had a public falling-out with former sporting director Eric Abidal earlier this year, who was also fired after Setien. Messi also criticized the board for attempting to pressure players into taking a wage cut in the midst of potential losses due to the coronavirus pandemic.

To make matters worse, Lionel Messi has witnesses the last three UEFA Champions League exits at the hands of Roma, Liverpool, and the recent 8-2 thrashing at the feet of Bayern Munich. Barcelona also let its lead in La Liga get away after the restart, with bitter rival Real Madrid snatching the crown from within their grasp.

Teams like Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City have shown a strong interest in Lionel Messi. Ronald Koeman will have a small time window to convince Messi that something is bound to change, or else the superstar dynamo could look to make the move elsewhere with the board already preparing to fetch a particular price if the Argentina international decides he's played his last game at the Camp Nou.
