Swiss commentator Salome Soe “Soembie” Gschwind Penski wins the 2020 Top Esports Host of the Year of the gameHERS Awards.

Soembie started her esports career way back in 2007 when she was nineteen. She rose to prominence as she started casting on German television for NRW TV along with his Freaks 4U Gaming co-talents. Since then, she's become one of the most consistent workers in Overwatch. She hosted every Overwatch League Playoffs since its inaugural season in 2018.

Of course, she won't be so knowledgeable about her craft if she doesn't play the game she's hosting. She's achieved as high as Platinum as a support main, usually as D.Va or Mercy.

Soembie – esports veteran

Soembie's one of the most well-respected women in esports, a veteran who has been in the industry for more than a decade. Fans mostly know her for her work with Blizzard's games such as Starcraft II and Overwatch. However, her portfolio of games goes further than that. She's been part of the talent panel of The International 3, was a shoutcaster for Quake Live, and actually started her career as a shoutcaster for beat-'em-up games.

She has also had played competitively – or at least as part of a showmatch. In the 2018 Overwatch League – Inaugural All-Star Weekend, Soembie participated in the Talent Takedown competition as part of Team Pacific. They beat Team Atlantic 2-1, with Soembie winning the T-Mobile Talent Takedown MVP award.

The gameHERS Awards is an awards show that puts emphasis on women in gaming. Formed just this year, it's an awards night for female recipients, given by a panel of female judges.The awards show recognized 25 different women and women's groups across five categories: Content Creation, Community, Esports, Gaming, and Industry. A combination of fan voting and decisions by a panel of judges determined the winners of the awards night.
