The Los Angeles Sparks take on the Chicago Sky. Our WNBA odds series has our Sparks Sky prediction, odds, and pick. Find out how to watch Sparks Sky.
The Los Angeles Sparks are in the same boat as the Indiana Fever. What No. 2 WNBA draft pick Cameron Brink is going through in Los Angeles is similar to what Caitlin Clark, the No. 1 pick, is enduring in Indiana. Brink and Clark are luminous talents destined for WNBA stardom, but this rookie season is a rough ride and will remain that way. Brink and Clark did a lot of winning in college, but now in the pros — as top draft picks on teams which finished at the bottom of the league one year ago — they are going through the growing pains which are part of learning how to be a professional.
If Clark is a dazzling offensive talent with supreme shotmaking skill, Cameron Brink is an elite defender who has already shown that she can take on daunting matchups and numerous defensive responsibilities. It can't be left to her to do everything on defense for the Sparks. She will need a lot more help on offense precisely because she is a reliable defender who will regularly put forth a lot of effort at that end of the floor.
Brink and the Sparks now meet the Chicago Sky and Angel Reese of LSU in another WNBA rookie showcase. The Sparks and Sky are two of the four WNBA teams with fewer than three wins at this point in the season. The Sparks and Sky are two of the five WNBA teams with negative point differentials through the first two-plus weeks of the season. It has been harder for these teams to score than most in the WNBA. Finding consistent offense is a challenge both L.A. and Chicago need to figure out.

Why The Sparks Could Cover The Spread
The Sparks are a tough defensive team. They don't win a lot, but they compete well. They lost on the road to the defending champion Las Vegas Aces by just seven points. They have a very good chance of covering the spread against a Chicago team which is 0-2 at home and therefore doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt simply because it is playing on its own home floor. Chicago scored just 68 points in its most recent game against the Seattle Storm. If the Sparks hold the Sky to 68 here, they will cover.
Why The Sky Could Cover The Spread
The Sky have struggled of late, but are they going to lose three games in a row at home? Are they going to continue to struggle on offense? Are they going to lose to a Los Angeles team which has just two wins and is undeniably one of the worst teams in the WNBA? Chicago has defeated the New York Liberty on the road and has shown how good it can be. The Sky's ceiling is higher than the Sparks' best level.
Final Sparks-Sky Prediction & Pick
Chicago is not going to lose three in a row at home. It will play well and cover. Take the Sky.
Final Sparks-Sky Prediction & Pick: Sky -4.5
