After some early-season struggles, the San Antonio Spurs have managed to work their way to a 32-23 record and currently sit in the sixth spot in the Western Conference. They have a tough stretch ahead of them, though, as they just embarked on an eight-game road trip and may not have a key player for much of it, if not all of it. According to Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News, Derrick White is out tending to plantar fasciitis in his right foot:

This is not good news for the Spurs, who already had depth issues at point guard, and will now be without the 24-year-old guard who was playing heavy minutes for the team. White missed nine games at the start of the season, but quickly worked himself into the mix and has been able to provide for the team. In 25.3 minutes per game, he's averaging 9.6 points, 3.6 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and a steal while shooting 35.6 percent from deep and 50.0 percent overall.

In his absence, Bryn Forbes, who has become the starting option for San Antonio this, will have to step up and play heavy minutes. Forbes has been productive for the Spurs, notching 12.1 points per game and shooting an impressive 42.0 percent on his 3-pointers. The improvement of DeMar DeRozan as a playmaker for the team will be put the test as it is still up in the air how much time White will miss.

San Antonio lost the first game of the road trip against the Sacramento Kings on Monday night.
