Over the past few weeks, the state of Texas has been experiencing power outages, loss of water and heat, and many families' lives have been sent into turmoil. On top of that, there is still a pandemic that's taking people's lives each day. Now, in an interview with Associated Press reporter Tim Reynolds, San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich spoke out about what is going on in the world and with the state of Texas.

“So you know at this time, you just think about all the people that have gone through hell. And as we've seen from all the reports, it didn't have to be that way. You don't have to be a Republican or a Democrat or an Independent to figure that out. The facts were right there, and it's a damn shame,” the Spurs coach said.

That's a pretty powerful remark from one of the greatest NBA coaches. Gregg Popovich has never been one to mince his words, and he's not going to shy away from his opinions.

A man who sometimes has only a few words to describe a play or a game is very vocal on social issues. On top of that, the team's best player DeMar DeRozan is dealing with the loss of his father. The Spurs also announced that six players will not travel for Wednesday's game in Oklahoma City due to COVID-19 concerns.

Pop also mentioned that there are groups of people who have it worse, and considering their position and the money they make, they are very well off. While that part is true, the Spurs have found themselves in a tough situation with players missing time due to the COVID-19 guidelines and the entire state of Texas being without power.
