Enes Kanter has been a strong voice for various advocacies, most recently taking aim at China and their alleged human rights violations. The Turkish big man may be polarizing to some, but he has a clear supporter in San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.

Coach Pop was recently asked about Kanter, who most recently has been making headlines for calling out Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James. The Spurs coach expressed approval for what Kanter has had to say.

Via Tom Orsborn:

“I am glad that Enеs speaks up when he feels like it,” said the Spurs coach. “I think it’s great. No reason not to.”

Coach Pop further elaborated on why the actions of those like Enes Kanter are of utmost importance:

“We live in a world now where people are just willing to make stuff up and lie, promote cоnspiracy theоries, all these sorts of things – and a lot of people are buying it,” Popovich continued. “So pointing things out, calling it out when you need to is, important.”

Gregg Popovich is no stranger to being vocal on social issues. The Spurs coach never been one to shy away from encouraging his players to speak out. Even if Kanter wears a different uniform, he still has Pop's respect.
