Manu Ginobili had been to multiple championships throughout his 16-year NBA career with the San Antonio Spurs, but there are two specific title runs that really stand out to him: 2014 and 2005.

The 2014 title is sweet for Ginobili, as it served as the Spurs' payback for that 2013 title bout that saw LeBron James and the Miami Heat force a Game 7 when it looked like San Antonio was about to bag the Larry O'Brien trophy in Game 6.

Everyone probably still remembers that Chris Bosh rebound and assist to Ray Allen, who then went on to bank the game-tying triple in Game 6 to force OT and help the Heat win. It was a “devastating” moment for Ginobili and the Spurs, especially after they gave Miami the momentum it needed to close things out in the do-or-die finale.

While he was “hurt” by that defeat, the Argentine icon emphasized that it made their 2014 win even more special. The Spurs made easy work of LeBron and the Heat in the 2014 Finals, 4-1.

“Not only was it joyful, it was therapeutic. It alleviated those aches,” Ginobili said of the 2014 NBA title, per Paul Garcia of Project Spurs.

As for that 2005 win, the Spurs fought the Detroit Pistons and actually had a back-and-forth affair. San Antonio got off to a 2-0 lead and looked like to be on their way to a quick trip to the Finals, but Detroit fought back and won two straight as well before they split the next two games leading to a Game 7.

For Manu Ginobili, it was a memorable affair since it affirmed to him that he can now compete at the highest level.

“Detroit was a tough opponent, we went to Game 7,” Ginobili added.

Ginobili spent his whole career with the Spurs, and he was a crucial part of the team as they went on to win four NBA titles during his time there. Now, he is being honored for his achievements with a Hall of Fame nod that he certainly didn't see coming when he was drafted in 1999 and made his way to the league in 2002.

As a 57th overall pick, not much was expected of him. But as he said it, he was in the right place at the right time. Despite all the heartbreaks he had to go through his career, they are all worth it.
