It has been a trying year for the San Antonio Spurs on and off the court. One of the biggest issues they have had has been the injuries. It started with Kawhi Leonard who is dealing with tendinopathy in the right quadriceps that has limited him to only nine games.

He has been cleared to return to game action, but he doesn't feel comfortable with a return just yet and now is shooting to get back in game action at the end of March.

For Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Spurs are going to be short-handed, and there is a chance they are really short-handed.

It has been a big topic of conversation around the Spurs organization this year, and Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News recently caught up with some players to talk about it.

Manu Ginobili who has been with the team since 2002 said this has been the most trying season, because of all the injuries.

“Not even close, Not only because of the players we’ve missed, but the uncertainty. When you have players where one day yes (they’re going to play) and one day no, that uncertainty has us off guard.”

Coming into this season the Spurs thought they had another chance to make a big run at the Golden State Warriors, but all the injuries have really derailed those chances.

Now they could get healthy for the playoffs and make the run then, but with all the injuries that have affected the Spurs, it shouldn't be expected that they will all be magically healthy for the playoff run.

For Leonard, although he is shooting for a return at the end of this month, he has made it clear that if he isn't ready to play he won't, so it wouldn't be surprising if he was shut down for the rest of the year.
