Note: Changes were made to correct Hardaway's statement, per USA TODAY Sports.

Former NBA player Penny Hardway has been part of a lot of headlines recently following his controversial comments on Kawhi Leonard. The former apparently does not consider the latter as a superstar, as Leonard refuses to be the face of the league due to his reserved demeanor.

However, Hardaway quickly clarified his statements, and made it known that was not what he meant. The 46-year-old took to his Instagram account and made a post saying that he only cited that Leonard did not like too much media attention on him, but never claimed that he’s not a superstar. Hardaway even called him the best two-way player of today.

As it turns out, Hardaway was indeed misquoted. This should clear the air, via SiriusXM NBA Radio.

“Actually, you know what, I can give Kawhi superstar (status). Because he's just not a guy that likes commercials, he's not a guy that wants to be the face of the league. He just wants to get his work done. … But he would be a superstar to me, for sure, because he handles his own with anybody in the league.”

Throughout his seven-year NBA career so far, The Klaw has shown how soft-spoken he is, and that he prefers to let his game do most of the talking for him. He has been able to showcase an ever-improving game on both ends of the floor. That said, Kawhi Leonard has drawn some comparisons to some of the league’s legends, including former Spurs franchise player, and his teammate, Tim Duncan for having a similar stoic personality.

Only 26-year-old, Leonard still has not reached his full potential yet, which is bad news for the rest of competition. He also has Gregg Popovich as his head coach, who is trying to bring out the best in him, which could do even more wonders to his career. If he can continue to develop his game, the sky’s the limit for the Leonard, and he could be considered an all-time great once he hangs his sneakers for good.
