San Antonio Spurs forward Rudy Gay has been downgraded to doubtful for his team's game against the Utah Jazz on Saturday afternoon due to an ankle injury, according to Jeff McDonald of The San Antonio Express-News.

Gay is coming off of a very impressive performance in a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night in which he finished with 25 points, three rebounds and a couple of assists in 32 minutes while going 10-of-15 from the floor and 5-of-6 from three-point range.

On the season overall, Gay is averaging 14.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists over 27.2 minutes per game while shooting 52.2 percent from the floor, 43 percent from three-point range and 86.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Gay, who signed with the Spurs during the summer of 2017, has been one of the only players to actually come back from a torn Achilles and be effective. As a matter of fact, not only has Gay been effective, but he is enjoying the most efficient season of his career.

The 32-year-old tore his Achilles during the 2016-17 campaign with the Sacramento Kings and drew minimal interest on the free-agent market that ensuing summer before San Antonio signed him to a one-year deal.

He had a decent season last year, recording 11.5 points and 5.1 boards across 27.2 minutes a night, leading to the Spurs re-signing him to another one-year deal back in July.

Obviously, the contract has worked out for San Antonio, as Gay has been one of the team's best players this season.

The Spurs are trying to snap a three-game losing streak.
