The Cleveland Cavaliers are two losses away from fumbling another chance to win an NBA title against the Golden State Warriors. But whether the Cavs manage to come back from a 2-0 series hole and win in the finals or follow the seemingly obvious narrative that says they are going to succumb to the Warriors, it will not change the fact that LeBron James is going to be a free agent in the summer.

At 33 and with 15 seasons worth of mileage in his body, James is still expected to garner a tremendous amount of interest in free agency.

If it’s up to former NBA player Stephen Jackson, James should join forces with Gregg Popovich and play for the San Antonio Spurs. Jackson said as much during a recent appearance on Fox Sports 1’s Speak For Yourself.

Jackson recognizes LeBron’s goal of winning more titles to add to his legacy, and he thinks that the four-time league MVP has a great shot at achieving that goal in San Antonio, where he’s going to play under a great coach in Popovich and will have the convenience of being flanked by a dual-threat forward in Kawhi Leonard and a great big man in LaMarcus Aldridge. That’s not to mention the Spurs’ tried-and-tested system that has delivered numerous championships to the franchise.

This is not the first time that Jackson has preached for a LeBron-to-San Antonio possibility, as he also spoke about it back in March.

Jackson definitely knows what he’s talking about having played a total of four seasons with the Spurs during his NBA career that spanned from 2000 to 2014.
