Toronto Raptors star small forward Kawhi Leonard is getting the same treatment LeBron James got back in 2010 when he returned to Cleveland for the first time as a member of the Miami Heat.

While he was shooting a free-throw, Kawhi Leonard got serenaded with “traitor” chants from the fans in San Antonio. The Spurs' faithful have been booing their former star player all night too.

This was to be expected. After only playing in nine games last season and requesting a trade, Kawhi Leonard is the No. 1 villain in San Antonio right now.

Not playing after getting cleared to play by team doctors is one thing. Requesting a trade is another thing. You are telling the franchise and fans that you no longer want to play for the team and are done with them.

So, even though Kawhi Leonard won two Defensive Player of the Year awards, became a two-time All-Star, and won the 2014 Finals MVP with the Spurs, the fans don't care at all. The Claw is now in Toronto and the fans in San Antonio don't have any love for Leonard anymore.

The boos were to be expected. The traitor chants aren't surprising, but no one predicated they would occur. Needless to say, the atmosphere in San Antonio on Thursday is similar to what LeBron dealt with in 2010 and what Kevin Durant deal with in 2016 when he went back to Oklahoma City for the first time as a member of the Warriors.
