The Star Wars universe has plenty of characters left behind in what are now known as Legends that could eventually find their way to the Disney/Lucasfilm canon, and one member of the Star Wars Rebels cast knows exactly who they hope to portray.

Vanessa Marshall spoke about her experience voicing Hera Syndulla on Rebels at Fan Expo: San Francisco when the topic shifted to some of her dream live-action roles within the Star Wars universe, according to Collider. Marshall said she would love to be able to join the live-action side of Star Wars, adding that she would “love” the chance to portray popular Legends character Mara Jade.

“I would love to play Mara Jade,” Marshall said. “Can you call Dave Filoni and just let him know that I'd love to play Mara Jade?”

Jade was a prominent fixture within Star Wars books, comics, and games after her introduction in the 1991 novel Heir to the Empire, which also introduced fan-favorite character Grand Admiral Thrawn. She was a former Imperial agent who served directly under Emperor Palpatine who would become the love interest of Luke Skywalker, with the pair eventually marrying and conceiving their son Ben Skywalker shortly after.

Aside from her relationship with Luke, Jade would play a prominent part in many major story arcs across the many expanded universe works of the 1990s and 2000s. Her popularity was such that fans called on George Lucas to find some way to bring her to the TV or movie screen, but she never did.

Marshall's statement, however, isn't outside the realm of possibility given how Filoni has pulled from Legends to use in his own projects during his time at Lucasfilm. Grand Admiral Thrawn's introduction in Rebels and live action debut in Ahsoka, specifically, is the biggest example of this mindset as the Imperial military leader has emerged as one of the over-arching villains in Filoni's Mandoverse.
