The Dallas Stars are in the City of Brotherly Love as they take on the Philadelphia Flyers Thursday night. Below we will continue our NHL odds series with a Stars-Flyers prediction and pick. We will also let you know how to watch the game.

The Stars are 26-12-5 on the season and their 57 points put them third in the Central Division. Dallas has already played the Flyers this season, and they were able to beat them in overtime. In that game, the Stars got goals from five different skaters. Wyatt Johnston recorded three points as he assisted on two of the goals. Scott Wedgewood was the starting goaltender, and made 36 saves on 40 shots in the win. Wedgewood is out for the game, though. Miro Heiskanen is dealing with an injury, but he did travel with the team to Philadelphia.

The Flyers have 54 total points on the season and sit second in the Metropolitan Division. They are on a four-game win streak, as well. In the first game with the Stars, the Flyers got goals from Joel Farabee, Sean Walker, and two goals from Travis Konecny. Samuel Ersson allowed five goals on just 25 shots in the loss. Sean Couturier is day-to-day for the game, but could be active.

Why The Stars Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Stars are the third-best goal scoring team in the NHL. They average 3.67 goals per game, so their play in the offensive zone is some of the best. Along with their goals per game, the Stars are second in shot percentage. When Dallas takes their shots, they are able to make them.

Dallas scored five goals on just 25 shots in their first game with Philadelphia. That type of production makes it very easy to win hockey games. In fact, when the Stars score more than three goals, they are 20-2-1 this season. That is 20 of their 26 wins. If the Stars can have the same type of production as they had in the first game with Philadelphia, they will win this game.

Why The Flyers Will Cover The Spread/Win

Philadelphia does not score a lot of goals. They win games in the defensive zone and in net. Yes, they allowed five goals on 25 shots in their first meeting with Dallas, but that game was all the way back in October. The Flyers a different team now and it has shown as the season has progressed. With that, the Flyers need to have a good game in the defensive zone in this game, though. If they can do that, they will pull off the win.

When Philadelphia allows three goals or less, they have a record of 24-5-3. That is every single one of their wins. The Flyers basically need to allow three goals maximum if they want to win this game. Philadelphia will need their goaltender to have a good game, and their defensemen to get in the shooting lanes. If the Flyers can do this, they will win the game.

Final Stars-Flyers Prediction & Pick

This is going to be a close game. It is great offensive play going up against great defensive play, and it is very tough to tell which one is going to give. Philadelphia is actually a worse team when playing at home this season. For this reason, I am going to take the Stars to win the game.

Final Stars-Flyers Prediction & Pick: Stars ML (-146), Under 6.5 (-130)
