After the Golden State Warriors acquired Kevin Durant last summer in the 2016 free agency, many believed the Warriors would be an unstoppable force heading into the next season. One year later, and we see the aftermath of KD moving from the Oklahoma City Thunder: he and the rest of the Warriors squadron are NBA champions.

Stephen Curry, now a 2-time NBA champion, was not shy to begin celebrating his success immediately on live television. In the postgame interview with him and Klay Thompson, he is seen smoking a cigar after the stresses of earning another ring have been lifted off his shoulders.

“The backstory to this is, after Game 7 last year, I told one of my close friends to save this for a year from now,” Curry told NBA on TV. “To be able to enjoy the process and journey. I’ve been waiting a whole year to smoke this, so I’m going to enjoy every last bit of this.”

No matter how you make it to the world stage, winning in the end is the ultimate goal, and overcoming the mountain deserves some sort of relief. Even though the Warriors openly admit adding KD to the fray made things a lot easier, sitting on top of the league as NBA champions is more than enough to convince haters their strategic acquisition for the dominant small forward was worth it.
