With Stephen Curry closing in on a major milestone of being the NBA's all-time leader in three-pointers made, Brooklyn Nets coach Steve Nash was asked about the pending accomplishment. Nash, also a two-time NBA MVP, not only got to play against Curry, he worked with him in the past as a consultant for the Golden State Warriors. Curry has even admitted that he modeled Nash when honing his craft back in the day.

Before the Nets' recent contest with the Houston Rockets, with Curry (2,958) just 16 triples shy from breaking the record of Hall of Fame guard Ray Allen (2,973), Nash gave high praise for the Warriors superstar.

“When I first started playing against (Curry) there might have been a little bit of big brother-little brother, where I felt like I had the upper hand,” said Nash in jest. “And by the time I was going out of the league, it was like I had no business being on the court with him.”

Curry himself did not rule out breaking the record in one night (via Nick Friedell of ABC News).

“What is it, 15?” Curry said of tying Allen's mark. “That's funny because I know what that means is Klay's record and all that, too. So we will see. If you've seen the way I've played, especially recently, I'm not shy about shooting the ball, so the game will dictate what that looks like. I'm not coming out with that as the true goal of how I play, but crazier things have happened.”

After a little bit of playfulness, Nash admitted he finds Curry's talent “mind-boggling.”

“He just took his game to another level comparative to everybody, historically to another level,” said Nash. “The way he's able to accurately play this game with such crazy diversity. His ability to shoot and make plays in so many different ways with so much accuracy, and range, and dexterity, it's almost we take it for granted because it's now the new normal and he's influenced other players and he's still at the top of that list. But you know taking a step back, it is kind of still mind-boggling.”

Nash wasn't done complimenting Curry.

“Just the constant ascension, the consistency, the way he works the uncomplicated joy he brings every night, these are all components that make him one of the greatest players to ever play the game,” said the second-year Nets tactician.

Curry and Nets' superstar Kevin Durant would likely be the finalists if the MVP award was decided today. It appears Nash is a huge fan of KD's former teammate and the joy he brings to the sport.

While we're keeping score, Nets guard James Harden has 2,506 three-pointers himself, ranking fourth all-time. Durant ranks 26th with 1,695, just 10 more than Nash.

Game recognize game.
