The Phoenix Suns should be the most motivated team this NBA season after coming so close to winning the title last season. After falling short against the Milwaukee Bucks, the Suns made some adjustments in the organization in the offseason in hopes of redeeming themselves.

Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and Deandre Ayton are already a solid threesome for the Suns, but just like other stars, they still need that extra push to get over the hump. Luckily for them, Suns coach Monty Williams brought in four familiar faces to help their cause.

Williams souped up his coaching staff by adding Jarrett Jack, Michael Ruffin, Bryan Gates, and Steve Scalzi. All of them have worked with the Suns drillmaster at some point in their careers, making the transition easier for them and the players alike. After their short break, Williams said they had to regroup right away (via Duane Rankin of AZ Central)

“That was a huge part of the short break was trying to bring in people that we thought would be a good fit, but also to challenge me and help me grow as a coach. Because it was such a short break, it was a lot harder to talk to people that I really didn’t know and so that probably (led) to leaning towards guys that I was familiar with, but also guys that had done a good job away from our program and guys I knew that would challenge me and help our team grow.”

According to Suns players like Cameron Payne and Cameron Johnson, the comfort level with their new assistant coaches is already high.
