The Minnesota Timberwolves struck what some would call a blockbuster trade just ahead of the Thursday deadline, acquiring D'Angelo Russell from the Golden State Warriors in exchange for Andrew Wiggins and draft picks. On Friday, Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker, who is very close with both Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns, reacted to the two becoming a tandem in Minnesota:

“I’m just focused on this team. I think everybody knows that,” said Booker, according to Gina Mizell of The Athletic. “There’s always gonna be outside noise, but I’m gonna leave that to you guys.”

Booker is currently in his fifth NBA season and is averaging 26.7 points, 6.3 assists and 4.1 rebounds over 36.1 minutes per game while shooting 50.6 percent from the floor, 36.2 percent from three-point range and 91.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The 23-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball with Towns at the University of Kentucky, was originally selected by the Suns in the first round (13th pick overall) of the 2015 NBA Draft.

He had an impressive rookie campaign, registering 13.8 points, 2.6 assists and 2.5 boards across 27.7 minutes a night while making 42.3 percent of his field-goal attempts, 34.3 percent of his long-distance tries and 84 percent of his foul shots.

Booker then broke out during his second season, recording 22.1 points, 3.4 assists and 3.2 rebounds through 35 minutes per game, connecting on 42.3 percent of his shots, 36.3 percent of his triples and 83.2 percent of his free throws.

He has continued to show incremental improvement each year since then, leading to Booker signing a massive contract extension with Phoenix during the summer of 2018.
